SAGD operations produce a bitumen-water emulsion to the surface, and the water component must be removed as the bitumen component is processed to a Sales Oil quality. This water is called “produced water” (PW), and as it is progressively removed, it is collected for de-oiling and softening in order to re-use it as Boiler Feed Water (BFW). It is absolutely necessary to remove ALL traces of oil from the produced water before being directed back to the BFW system for steam generation.
Contendo’s SAGD Produced Water De-Oiling Training Course is designed to prepare you for work in the oil industry by providing a comprehensive understanding of SAGD produced water de-oiling operations. We describe why and how produced water is treated to produce quality de-oiled water.
General topics include discussions of de-oiling methods, such as Gravity Separation and Skimming, Induced Gas Flotation (IGF), and Oil Removal Filters (ORF); and, Water Softening.
We use animations to take you inside vessels and equipment to see each process and flow stream, making the training valuable to all tradespersons, supervisors, and managers interested in SAGD Produced Water De-Oiling operations.
Safety features, warnings, and typical PSV locations are included so you can appreciate hazards and how they are handled.
The complete SAGD Produced Water De-Oiling Course consists of 20 Learning Modules.
